Israeli Minister of Defense
Avigdor Liberman is Israel's Defense Minister since May, 2016. Liberman is the Chairman of Israel Beytenu Party, and he is one of the founders of the immigrants' organization "The Zionist Forum". Liberman served as Director General of the Prime Minister’s office, Benjamin Netanyahu between 1996 and 1998, as a "Likud" member. In 1999, Liberman founded the Israel Beytenu (Israel is our Home) Party and was appointed Minister of National Infrastructures. Liberman also was a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and the State Control Committee. In the 16th Knesset Liberman was appointed Minister of Transportation. In the 17th Knesset, Liberman was named Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In the 18th Knesset, Liberman was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister. In 2012 he served as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
