Israeli Minister of Defense
Avigdor Liberman has served as Israel's Defense Minister since May 2016. Mr. Liberman is the Chairman of Israel Beiteinu Party, and he is one of the founders of the immigrants' organization "The Zionist Forum." He served as Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office under PM Benjamin Netanyahu between 1996 and 1998 as a member of Likud. In 1999, Me. Liberman founded the Israel Beiteinu party (Israel is our Home) and was appointed Minister of National Infrastructures. He was also a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and the State Control Committee. In the 16th Knesset Mr. Liberman was appointed Minister of Transportation, and in the 17th Knesset was named Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In the 18th Knesset, Mr. Liberman was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister. In 2012 he served as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
